Phillipe Armenier

January12

Arriving at lunch time on a sunny spring afternoon, Phillipe was greeted by vineyard manager Phil Cline and winemaker Paul Beveridge. The three spent the afternoon digging soil samples, testing them and doing an overall assessment of the vineyard site.

Phil Cline has spent the fall and early spring applying the essential biodynamic sprays while getting more ground ready to expand the vineyard plantings. "I'm in awe of the vast knowledge that Phillipe has given us." said Cline. "With his knowledge, my perseverence and Paul's desire, this will be the finest vineyard site in all of Washington."

On a tight schedule due to the strange spring weather, Cline and his crew have only a short timeframe to plant the new Sangiovese and Sagrantino blocks.  Phillipe gave them some pointers from his years of experience. "You've got great soil here." he said. "Just keep up with the work and you'll be amazed at the end result."
