Hop Festival
August 1
Hop Festival - Moxee City Park - August 1 & 2, 2008
Damian, manager of the Tasting Room Yakima, and Phil, vineyard manager of Wilridge Vineyard and owner of Naches Heights Vineyard, were lucky enough to be the only wine pourers at the 2008 Moxee Hop Festival. And although it is called a hop festival, you'd be surprised at the number of people who chose to drink wine instead.
"My favorite moment of the weekend was when a guy came over to our tent, got a glass of wine and promptly stated, 'This will be my drink as I stand in that huge beer line over there'. Hey, all I can say is that we sold one more glass of wine and he got a quick drink while waiting for another drink". - Damian
The beer garden area was strickly 21 and over, but there was another huge area of the park that was family friendly. Booths selling everything from Chicken Wings to face paintings, to motorcycles, to Kettle Corn, to local jewlery could be found in the main festival area. There was a live music stage that had a karaoke session toward the end of the evening.
The exposure for The Tasting Room and Naches Heights Vineyard was well worth the time and effort. Plus, sitting behind the wine booth in the beer garden presented some of the best people watching in WA.
And you can bet, we'll be there again next year!
