Wilridge Winery receives : Best Italian varietal over $20 from Seattle Magazine, April 2008.
Wilridge Nebbiolo di Klipsun, 2005, Red Mountain, $29
Produced by Paul Beveridge at his tiny Madrona winery, this lovely Nebbiolo, one of a kind among Washington reds, has the classic light color and tannic structure of an Italian Nebbiolo but all the fresh cherry and earthiness of Red Mountain's coveted Klipsun Vineyard fruit. It's a great wine with grilled chicken and red sauces. This year, Beveridge made his 17th vintage and, for the first time, bought vineyard land in Naches Heights, just west of Yakima, where he is experimenting with more than 20 varietals, including Nebbiolo and Sangiovese.
